1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Repair & Upgrade (Restomod)

The customer initially brought the vehicle to Belcher Engineering with a view to doing a small (ish) Restomod project.  This involved:

  • A disc brake conversion
  • Tremec 5 speed gearbox upgrade
  • Power Steering and Rack& Pinion Upgrade

However as is sometimes the case with classic vehicles, once we got working on the car, various issues with the vehicle came to light that needed some immediate repair work.

The Subframe itself was also partially rotted out and needed repairing and strengthening to support the vehicle structure.   On top of this the  flooring in the vehicle had been bodge repaired with a some poor tac welds and was primary held in place with seam sealer.

Belchers repaired the subframe and ended up completely replacing all the flooring in the vehicle to ensure it was safe to drive around and prevent a Flinstones moment :-).  The front end of the vehicle had also been warped from a previous impact and had some corrosion, so this ended up being changed out.

Further works that ended up being undertaken included:

  • Changed the front end panels that were rotted out and bent (from a previous impact)
  • Complete rewire of the vehicle (as the electrics weren't safe)
  • Shelby Drop on the front suspension to improve the handling
  • Infotainment upgrade/Reversing camera (wiring)
